Logline
When a young man arrives home late to his strange, temperamental pet, he must endure the consequences that befall him and decide whether or not to continue feeding the mouth that bites him.
Synopsis
In this slice-of-life meets horror short film, Oliver, a young, anxious man, arrives home late one night to his strange and temperamental pet, The Creature. The Creature is not happy to be served dinner late, lashing out at Oliver and biting him as he feeds it. Oliver struggles with the internal turmoil of needing to be The Creature’s savior, holding out hope for the good moments they share, and the buildup of the tense and increasingly dangerous actions of his pet. There’s a Creature in My Bed combines genres to tell the story of a young man grappling with his toxic relationship, co-dependency, and PTSD. We explore the nuances of Oliver’s relationship with The Creature and his own internal turmoil through suspense and horror.
Characters
Oliver - Oliver is a man in his early twenties; his need to help the creature overshadows his own needs. He feeds the mouth that bites him and cherishes the facade of what the creature could be.
The Creature - The Creature is a dog-like beast, wild and untamable. The Creature was obviously hurt before it came to live with Oliver, and its temperamental characteristics become increasingly dangerous.
